Why We Chose Leland

Leland is home to the Pizzo Group headquarters and the place where our work with native plants and restoration comes together. Our 40-acre property includes 32.5 acres of remnant prairie and wetland, permanently protected by a conservation easement. Surrounded by more than 22,000 acres of production agriculture, it has become an important oasis for migratory birds, monarchs, and other wildlife. It’s also where we continue to learn. We use the property as a living laboratory to better understand restoration, stewardship, and native plant propagation.

What We Bring to the Region

Our Leland location combines native plant production with hands-on restoration experience. Our nursery produces about 2 million plugs each year, representing more than 350 species of native plants, which are shipped throughout the United States and parts of Canada. What we learn on our own property helps shape the work we do throughout the region. We bring that experience to every project—from selecting the right native plants to restore and caring for healthy, functioning natural areas. Leland is where we grow the plants, do the work, and continue learning from the land.
