Jack Pizzo
MS, PLA, ASLA, CPBM, ICN, Certified Burn Manager
Jack Pizzo has over 35 years of experience restoring habitats and preserving land for continued sustainability. Jack is an expert in successfully restoring natural areas and growing deep-rooted, native plants. At Pizzo Group, he is charged with scientifically evaluating current ecological restoration practices for the enhancement and/or establishment of native flora and fauna. This includes identifying and implementing methods of improvement for the materials and processes used to ensure ecosystems thrive.
Jack is also a Past President of the Illinois Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) and a prescribed fire expert who is regularly contracted as an instructor for the S-130/S-190 Wildland Firefighter training.

Evan Barker
CPBM, CERP, Certified Burn Manager
Evan Barker is a passionate ecologist and an expert in botany. With a deep-rooted love for plants, Evan has been a dedicated member of the Pizzo team since 2008. And he has stayed connected to his roots in botany as an instructor in the Environmental Science department at DePaul University, where he himself graduated.
Evan’s expertise has earned him notable accolades, including winning the Illinois Native Plant Society’s Big Year competition in 2016 by finding and identifying over 900 plant species in Illinois within a single year. His appearances on the popular YouTube channel “Crime Pays But Botany Doesn’t” have further showcased his knowledge and enthusiasm for botany. Known for his engaging teaching style, he is a sponge of knowledge, ready to share insights at the slightest squeeze.
