Manufacturing sustainably isn’t just a goal. At Aurora Specialty Textiles Group, it’s an ongoing, daily focus. They care about the environment and believe that wise, thoughtful use of resources isn’t just important, but is essential, to running a manufacturing operation. Aurora is continuously looking for ways to reduce their impact on the environment, as well as improve the local environment. Which is why they partnered with Pizzo & Associates to manage the outside area around their manufacturing facility, looking to make the grounds more environmentally friendly and functional.
Looking to help grow greener objectives for Aurora, we seeded and installed native plants around the shoreline to help with erosion control while providing a natural aesthetic for the corporate campus. We continued with commercial stewardship controlling invasive species and utilizing prescribed fire to help with ecological goals. After each controlled burn, densities of wildflowers have increased. Prescribed fire is preferred over mowing when the space allows for it.
Aurora has won numerous awards for their state-of-the-art manufacturing processes, which are engineered to reduce air pollution, water consumption, wastewater effluent, the use of chemicals and their carbon footprint. The natural areas around the campus deliver the same level of award-winning work.
