In 2019, Pizzo & Associateds inherited this project from its owner who had previously had it seeded as a tall grass prairie. The Coloma homeowner was disappointed that the grasses were so dense that no wildflowers could take hold. Pizzo was hired to help control the dense grasses and help promote the growth of more wildflowers within the prairie.
Pizzo instituted many tactics to bring the grasses under control: prescribed burns, enhancement wildflower seedings, grass retardants, mowings and on-going stewardship.
In 2024 post-burn, this prairie has more wildflowers than ever before!
