Grand Haven HOA Land Stewardship in Romeoville, IL

Grand Haven Homeowners Association (HOA) is located Romeoville, IL and is a 55+ community promoting resort-style living. The HOA spans over 165 acres with over 675 homes. There are walking trails, many natural areas, and retention ponds. To maintain the picturesque beauty of the community, the HOA was looking for a way to improve the shorelines around their retention ponds and stream. Rather than a turf with riprap approach commonly seen in many subdivisions, the HOA wanted a more natural look using native plants to also create wildlife habitat.

Pizzo Habitat Restoration was selected by Grand Haven HOA in the early 2000s to help with a shoreline installation using native plants. The relationship has continued over the years focused on land stewardship that included prescribed burns, tree clearing, brush clearing, management of invasive species, kreonite treatments, and seed enhancements to maintain dense prairies.
