Having a love for natural prairies, this Naperville homeowner wanted to create the backyard prairie of their dreams as well as kind to the environment. Pizzo was hired to help turn the backyard prairie dream into a reality.
Pizzo and Associates provided a turf to prairie conversion in a portion of the homeowner’s backyard creating a beautiful habitat. Herbaceous clearing was used to prepare the site followed by seeding using a hand broadcast spreader and then covered with an erosion control blanket to help keep the seed in place, prevent damage, and hydrate the ground below. Ongoing stewardship has ensured a dense, natural prairie.
Not only has the home earned a Conservation@Home official certification, the “Good Karma” Prairie is also an extension of larger mission to spread love and positive energy. A small reminder that wherever we are, whoever we are, and whatever we believe in, as long as we treat each other kindly, the world will be a great place for all of us.
