The Oswego Village Square HOA partnered with us to manage natural areas including storm basins to not only improve water quality and help manage erosion, but to also provide a beautiful community space filled with native wildflowers and wildlife.
Stormwater basins are important because they help prevent flooding, reduce erosion, improve water quality, and protect the environment by controlling and treating stormwater runoff. Pizzo & Associates seeded and installed native plants which are dynamic and can adapt to the changing seasons, making it a favorable long-term solution. In addition, native plantings are much more cost effective compared to other methods of maintaining proper function of stormwater management.
On-going stewardship tasks include native seed and plug installation, mowing, and herbicide application.
On-going stewardship at a high quality level is apparent within the natural areas. There is a large diversity of native plants across the basins and the aesthetic appeal of each area draws in people to see the flowers, sit in the shade, and enjoy various birds and other wildlife who have made the area their home.
