This homeowner in Sawyer, Michigan called on Pizzo & Associates to restore the natural integrity of their land with intention to create a rejuvenating and functional space for all surrounding life.
Prescribed burns were conducted in 2022 & 2024 to clear debris, recycle nutrients and stimulate the growth of native plant species. Pizzo & Associates collected seed from the native plants already present and dispersed this mix into the open areas during the growing season.
The areas burned maintained unburned refuge for animal species, whose communities and habitats thrive following our restoration.
The inviting trails of this land will lead you through a vibrant prairie which serves as the owner’s sculptural showcase while providing both habitat and nourishment to pollinators and other wildlife. The layered beauty of the prairie set against the backdrop of a deep and nourished woodland becomes a work of art in itself.
