The goal on this Sawyer homeowner was to revive the woodland of its natural charm and integrity. Halting the overgrowth of non-natives and a thorough cleanup were imperative. Sawyer is located near New Buffalo, MI.
Pizzo & Associates cleared this woodland of brush and unwanted trees, recycling the nutrients with a pile burn on site. After cleanup, all stumps were treated with an appropriate herbicide to prevent resprouting. This treatment targets the root systems, ensuring trees do not regenerate and impede native growth. Our team monitored this site in Sawyer, Michigan regularly throughout multiple growing seasons to continue the removal of invasive species and encouragement of native establishment.
Seeds stored in banks underground will await germination until conditions are right on the surface to support their growth. The showing of natives from this site’s natural seed bank is a testament to the effectiveness of our teams dedicated stewardship.
