S&C Electric Company transformed electricity distribution with the invention of the Liquid Power Fuse, leading to a new era of safer and more reliable power delivery. Today, S&C builds on this legacy of technology leadership to deliver innovative solutions that empower the transformation of the grid for a more reliable and sustainable energy future. Rooted in strong ethics and integrity, S&C demonstrates the same level of commitment to sustainability.
In collaboration with The Field Museum of Chicago, S&C transformed a bland turf grass park into a vibrant butterfly garden teeming with life. Efforts started with spraying herbicide to remove the grass in preparation for planting. 15,000 plugs were installed, all trees pruned, and a curvy walking path was installed to aid in the more organic, natural look. Over 30 native plant species now flourish where once there were none, creating a beautiful public space that supports biodiversity.
In a world where green spaces are increasingly replaced by towering skyscrapers and asphalt roads, the pollinator garden on S&C Electric Company’s corporate campus is bringing locals and wildlife together. It serves as a haven of biodiversity, right in the heart of Chicago, and breathes new life into the urban environment. Popular with bees, butterflies, and an array of other precious pollinators crucial to the planet’s ecosystem, this garden represents S&C’s values-driven culture and commitment to fostering sustainability within its communities.
